Job summary

Tekgence Inc. seeks a senior telecommunications engineer to help architect AMI 2.0 network communications, spanning cellular, private wireless, Wi-SUN, and utility telecom components.

You will translate requirements into scalable designs, validate solutions with vendors, and partner with PM, security, and field operations to ensure reliable, secure AMI delivery. You will define coverage and performance criteria, review vendor plans for enterprise alignment, and support lab, pilot, and production

Qualifications

• 8+ years of telecommunications engineering experience delivering wireless, carrier, field network or critical infrastructure solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline; AMI/Smart Grid experience a plus.
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable telecom designs and artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead telecom engineering analysis, design, and support for AMI communications including cellular, private wireless, Wi-SUN, and end-to-end connectivity.
• Define telecom requirements, coverage, capacity models, performance criteria, resilience, and support needs for AMI 2.0.
• Review vendor architecture and plans to ensure alignment with standards, cybersecurity, and field constraints.
• Support lab, pilot, field trials, and production readiness; troubleshoot telecom issues and integration dependencies.
• Collaborate with wireless carriers, meter vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues and drive execution.
• Develop Wi-SUN mesh design for areas with poor or no public cellular coverage.
