Socket.dev in Lehigh County is seeking a Lead Technician for a second-shift role (3:00 pm to 1:00 am). The position provides technical leadership within the department to support customers, improve safety, quality, and productivity, and mentor associates.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical technology preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an Assembly Technician - Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Travel: Limited

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical and electrical understanding across multiple product lines and platforms.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components during tool installation.
  • Review drawings and discuss tool design layouts with Engineering.
  • Work across multiple environments and platforms in tandem.
  • Mentor and train associates in best practices.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure material flow and equipment readiness.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues in tool builds.
  • Meet delivery dates by prioritizing work and reporting schedule risks.
  • Perform tool checkout and complete documentation.
  • Interface with Field Service and customers as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervision.

Job description

Purpose, Scope, Organization

The Lead Technicians' purpose is to provide technical expertise, leadership, and coordination within their department to effectively service customers, facilitate productive quality operations, and develop associate's skills. The Lead Technician is responsible for performing their core job responsibilities plus leading others in their related tasks and responsibilities. The Lead Technician is a key contributor in determining and continuously improving processes and procedures promoting safety, customer service, quality, and productivity. Lead Technicians help coordinate and facilitate their departments' work and coordinate workflow with their supervisor. The Lead Technician Reports to the Production Supervisor.

*This is a second-shift opening (3:00 pm to 1:00 am)*

Responsibilities

The Lead Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • 1. Mechanical and electrical understanding of multiple product lines; ability to work on both electrical and mechanical assemblies with limited support on two platforms (e.g. SRD, Mercury, Torrent, Storm).
  • 2. Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical components and sub-assemblies during the installation and integration of a tool.
  • 3. Ability to review drawings and specifications and discuss conceptual applications of tool design and layout with Engineering or other applicable personnel.
  • 4. Work in multiple environments, generally contributing to multiple platforms in tandem.
  • 5. Mentoring and training associates in best work practices.
  • 6. Working closely with the Supervisor to ensure smooth material flow to designated projects and that equipment and tools are maintained to support the manufacture of product in their area.
  • 7. Troubleshoot complex technical issues, both electrical and mechanical, related to tool builds, sub-assemblies, spare parts, and customer returns.
  • 8. Under the guidance of the Supervisor, achieve customer expected delivery dates by setting work priorities, assigning tasks to personnel, ensuring quality of workmanship is maintained, ensuring employees are fully engaged and highly productive, and reporting schedule risks to the Supervisor.
  • 9. Perform tool checkout and complete all required documentation.
  • 10. Interface with Field Service and customers, as required.
  • 11. Any other duties assigned by supervision.
Requirements

This position requires in-depth knowledge of all areas of responsibility. He or she must be organized, articulate, forthright, work well under pressure and have a positive communications style. The jobholder will be required to ensure quality workmanship and promote professional behavior.

Education / Technical: Associates Degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical technology preferred, but not required.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience as an Assembly Technician - Level 3 (Shellback Semiconductor Technologies) or equivalent experience from another assembly position.
