Job summary

Shellback Semiconductor Technologies in Pennsylvania seeks an Assembly Technician – Level 2 to perform electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic assembly, decontamination of tools, and interpretation of schematics.

You will crimp and pin connectors, build wire harnesses and cable assemblies, complete sub-assemblies to precise customer specs, and review drawings for tolerances while mentoring Level 1 technicians.

Job description

Purpose, Scope, Organization

The Assembly Technician Level - 2 will be responsible for the following elements of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic assembly: decontamination of tools or equipment; point-to-point wiring, hipot test; mechanical and electrical tool assembly with components; ability to comprehend and describe schematics/drawings. This list is not all inclusive but is representative of the jobs performed by an Assembly Technician Level - 2. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

The Assembly Technician – Level 2 responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performance in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic work.
  • Ability to crimp and pin connectors, build wire harnesses, build cable assemblies, complete sub-assembly builds of wet processing equipment to precise customer specifications.
  • Ability to understand metric and standard units of measure; ability to describe basic electrical circuits; ability to demonstrate understanding of specification tolerances.
  • Use various documentation methods (schematics, drawings, work instructions) to follow and understand procedures used at Shellback Semiconductor Technologies.
  • Gain an understanding of various manufacturing tools to include sockets, wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, torque wrenches, volt meters, drills, heat guns, crimp tools (list not all inclusive).
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of various electrical assemblies to precise specifications.
  • Ability to integrate sub-assemblies and components into a tool build based on various instruction methods and to precise specifications.
  • Comprehension and use of electrical and mechanical schematics, engineering releases, and flow plans. This will also require the technician to highlight oversights or inaccuracies with documentation.
  • Mechanical and electrical understanding of multiple product lines; ability to work on both electrical and mechanical assemblies and integration with limited support on one platform (e.g. SRD, Mercury, Torrent, Storm).
  • Ability to decontaminate assemblies and equipment.
  • Work in multiple environments, generally contributing to one product platform.
  • Mentor/instruct employees who are classified as Assembly Technician – Level 1.
  • Develop the necessary skills to be promoted to Assembly Technician – Level 3.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervision.
Requirements

This position requires in-depth knowledge of all areas of responsibility. Candidates must be organized, articulate, forthright, work well under pressure and have a positive communications style. The jobholder will be required to ensure quality workmanship and promote professional behavior.

Education/Technical: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2.5 years experience as an Assembly Technician in the semiconductor industry or similar industry.
