Job summary

Transport Refrigeration Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Technician to lead our fleet service team. You will manage a shift, assign tasks, and perform complex diesel and refrigeration repairs while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong diagnostics, and the ability to mentor technicians. The position offers night shifts, competitive pay, and a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, HSA contributions, 401(k) with company

• Proven experience as a Technician and/or Supervisor.
• Strong leadership in safety and quality.
• Willingness to manage a team and hands-on work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shift operations and ensure timely, high-quality repair work.
• Assign tasks to technicians and manage workflow.
• Answer customer service calls, create work orders.
• Ensure safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration units using OEM software and diagnose electrical issues.
• Perform PM services on trailers, refrigeration units, and APU units.
• Conduct FHWA/DOT inspections on trucks and trailers.
• Lead by example and maintain a clean, organized shop.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Technician and/or Supervisor
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Obtain a toolbox and required tools
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on quality and safety

What You’ll Do as a Lead Technician

As the Lead Technician, you'll manage your shift while ensuring your team meets repair and maintenance deadlines. Your responsibilities include:

• Overseeing shift operations, ensuring work is completed on time and to high standards
• Assigning tasks to technicians and managing the flow of work
• Answering customer service calls, assisting with needs, and creating work orders
• Ensuring safety and compliance with company policies and procedures
• Troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration units using OEM software, reading codes, and diagnosing electrical issues
• Handling repairs for minor and major truck and trailer systems: fuel, coolant, electrical, drivetrain, brakes, suspension, and more
• Conducting PM services on trailers, refrigeration units, and APU units
• Performing FHWA/DOT inspections on trucks and trailers
• Brake and ABS brake system replacements
• Tire repairs and replacements for trucks and trailers
• Structural, rear door, and electrical trailer repairs
• Performing APU repair and troubleshooting
• Performing road service work, servicing company vehicles, and maintaining equipment
• Maintaining a clean and organized shop environment
• Leading by example and adhering to company and customer standards
