Role Description

The Lead Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Madison Area. This position is responsible for leading the installation, configuration, and maintenance of home technology systems, including audio/visual, networking, automation, and security solutions. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing project execution, mentoring technicians, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification. The Lead Technician will coordinate with project managers and clients, perform system testing and documentation, and provide clear guidance and support during system handoffs. This role also involves maintaining tools and equipment, upholding company standards, and contributing to process improvements and best practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of home automation, audio/visual, and networking systems.
• Strong technical skills using diagnostic tools, reading wiring diagrams, and working with low-voltage systems and structured cabling.
• Proven ability to lead field teams, delegate tasks, coach technicians, and coordinate with project managers and subcontractors.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, explaining system features, and documenting work clearly and accurately.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks on-site.
• Comfort working in residential environments, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting equipment as needed.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and quality standards.
• Relevant technical certifications or training in AV, networking, or low-voltage systems are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Greater Madison Area.
• Previous experience in a lead or senior technician role within home technology, AV, or low-voltage industries is highly beneficial.
