Job description

Join to apply for the Lead Technician role at The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC.

The Lead Technician will be responsible for installation, termination, and configuration of access control devices, such as card readers, request-to-exit devices, electrified door hardware, access control panels, analog and IP cameras, camera servers (NVR), power supplies, cable pathway systems, and various cables including twisted pair, low voltage, and coax. They will oversee onsite tasks for Field Technicians and Installers to meet project milestones set by Project Managers and Field Supervisors. Installations will occur in both new construction and retrofit scenarios across various environments.

Essential Functions
  1. Onsite tasking of resources to meet project milestones established by the Project Manager
  2. Install various access control devices and electrified door hardware
  3. Install and connect access control panels, power supplies, and control equipment
  4. Install and program various CCTV; analog and IP cameras
  5. Install and program various types of NVRs and VMS platforms
  6. Install cable and pathway systems to support security systems
  7. Lead a team of field technicians in a project environment
  8. Maintain installation deadlines
  9. Manage daily time entries of crew members
  10. Ensure high quality control standards
  11. Promote safety on the job site
  12. Perform end-user training
  13. Participate in project commissioning and testing
  14. Assist in final documentation standards enforcement
  15. Attend trades meetings at construction sites as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Certification in at least two VMS systems
  2. Certification in at least two access control systems
  3. Minimum one year of experience in basic configuration of physical security systems
  4. Training and certification from at least one camera manufacturer
  5. OSHA-10 certification
  6. At least two years as a Field Technician or equivalent
  7. Successful passing of pre-employment background check and drug test
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Effective leadership and planning skills for a team of 2-4 workers
  2. Proficiency in low voltage principles (ohm’s law, load calculations, metering, etc.)
  3. Good communication skills with customer IT and Facilities staff
  4. Ability to coordinate with other trades
  5. Proficiency in installing, terminating, and configuring IP camera technology, controller hardware, power supplies, door hardware, and credential technologies
  6. Understanding of physical security systems principles and application in the field
Physical Demands

More than 2/3 of the time spent standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands, and reaching. About 1/3 of the time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting of items weighing 25-50 pounds.

Work Environment

Exposure to variable weather conditions, proximity to forklifts or heavy machinery, and use of various tools and hardware. Frequent heavy lifting required.
