Job summary

Blumenthal Arts in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Technical Production Manager to lead technical crews and oversee lighting, audio, electrical, and rigging across venues. The role oversees budgets, equipment coordination, and contracts to ensure seamless productions.

The position emphasizes hands-on leadership, payroll/reports oversight, and adherence to safety standards, with 40+ hour weeks including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in technical theater.
• Crowd management certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.
• Advanced technical theater knowledge including proficiency in lighting or audio.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or Lightwright design software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and cloud-based file sharing.
• Lighting and/or sound console networking and operations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervise stage/technical crew members and oversee equipment for events.
• Provide HR support including payroll, reports, and onboarding for staff.
• Manage theatrical systems including fly systems, electrical, audio, video, and rigging.
• Design, Source, Install, Inventory, Operate, and Service theatrical equipment systems.
• Meet with clients, vendors, and staff to discuss project requirements.
• Assist in budgeting, space design, equipment usage, labor scheduling, and contract reviews.
• Assist in managing technical needs across theaters and campuses as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Blumenthal Performing Arts policies and safety standards.
• Prepare and review daily reports, payroll reports, show reports, contracts, and riders.
• Stay updated with industry best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
