Job description

Overview

The Business Analyst is responsible for driving solution delivery and business outcomes by owning requirements, shaping solutions, and ensuring implementation aligns with measurable business value. This role operates with a high degree of independence and is accountable for translating business needs into implemented, validated solutions in partnership with stakeholders, PMO, engineering, and QA. This position requires a results-motivated, detail-oriented professional who will introduce structure and best practices while keeping processes lean and practical.

Responsibilities
  • Requirements Elicitation & Management: Own end-to-end requirements lifecycle including prioritization, decision-making, and acceptance of delivered functionality
  • Improve project delivery quality and timeliness through requirements gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Capture, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements
  • Develop clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules
  • Ensure requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify, resolve, and actively remove delivery blockers (dependencies, constraints, risks)
  • Make trade-off decisions on scope, priority, and requirements clarity to maintain delivery momentum
  • Drive requirements from concept through implementation, ensuring readiness for development
  • Act as the final arbiter of requirement completeness and acceptance criteria quality
  • Business Process Analysis: Own delivery of process improvements through implementation, not just recommendation
  • Validate that process changes are adopted and producing expected outcomes
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities; establish improvement plans with stakeholders; lead improvement initiatives to completion
  • Ensure process alignment across stakeholder groups by working closely with process owners, teams, and end-users throughout the process lifecycle
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Develop and maintain professional relationships with business users and technical teams
  • Drive stakeholder alignment through clear decisions, structured trade-offs, and defined outcomes
  • Challenge assumptions and push stakeholders toward actionable decisions
  • Hold stakeholders accountable to timelines, inputs, and agreed outcomes
  • Measure, baseline, and improve stakeholder satisfaction by managing expectations, and building and implementing improvement plans based on collected feedback
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives and delivered solutions
  • Minimize reliance on workshops by proactively synthesizing inputs and presenting decision-ready outputs
  • Best Practices & Lightweight Frameworks: Operationalize and enforce lightweight BA standards across projects
  • Ensure adoption of templates, traceability, and change control through active governance
  • Continuously refine practices based on delivery outcomes, not theoretical best practices
  • Define, deploy, and support a nimble approach to process management
  • Support backlog grooming and prioritization processes
  • Project Support: Own readiness of work entering development (clear, testable, prioritized)
  • Partner with engineering during build to clarify requirements in real-time and prevent delivery delays
  • Own UAT execution, including defect triage, prioritization, and go/no-go recommendations
  • Validate delivered solutions against business objectives and ensure successful implementation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in software or technology projects
  • Experience working in Agile, hybrid, or structured project environments
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills
  • Experience modeling business processes
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Strong decision-making and execution skills in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to drive outcomes without relying on formal authority
  • Comfort operating as a product owner–like role when needed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Highly self-directed and accountable
Preferred
  • CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar certification
  • Experience establishing BA practices in growing organizations
  • Experience with backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
Success Factors
  • Clear reduction of rework, improved quality, and cross-team alignment
  • Produces clear, testable, and actionable requirements
  • Establishes repeatable but lightweight BA standards
  • Builds trust with stakeholders
  • Anticipates gaps and mitigates ambiguity
  • Improves clarity and reduces rework across projects
  • Delivers features/process improvements producing measurable outcomes
  • Produces decision-ready artifacts and driving execution
  • Maintains delivery velocity while improving quality
  • Owns outcomes, not just artifacts
