Soni's client is seeking a Lead Technical / Business Systems Analyst to partner closely with leadership. This role translates complex business needs into clear, development-ready work for a small, build-focused team.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role combining business analysis, technical systems analysis, and product ownership. You will own the team’s requirements and backlog, collaborate directly with stakeholders and engineers, and ensure the delivery of high-value solutions.
The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where processes are evolving and requirements may be ambiguous. You must be able to ask the right questions, grasp technical concepts, and guide solutions through the full product lifecycle. While you will not be writing code, a solid understanding of APIs, data flows, cloud architectures (specifically AWS), and AI concepts is required to define effective technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and technical requirements, turning ambiguous requests into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Analyze current-state processes, systems, and data flows to identify automation opportunities, gaps, and dependencies.
- Establish requirements standards and definition-of-ready criteria for backlog entry.
- Own and maintain the product backlog, prioritizing work based on business value, technical dependencies, and team capacity.
- Lead backlog refinement sessions and Agile ceremonies including planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the engineering team, reviewing completed work against acceptance criteria.
- Build strong relationships across the organization, translating technical concepts for business leaders and business needs for engineers.
- Manage cross-team dependencies and coordinate with vendors or other product teams.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), monitor product adoption, and translate user feedback into future improvements.
- Ensure solutions align with strict regulatory and security frameworks including HIPAA, SOC 2, and insurance regulations.
- Identify data risks and handle sensitive information (PII/PHI) securely throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications & Requirements

- Agile & Backlog Management: Strong background managing backlogs in Agile environments and working closely with software engineering teams.
- Technical Familiarity: Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, data flows, and cloud applications (AWS/cloud-native experience preferred).
- Advanced Tech: Familiarity with AI-enabled products, automation, or data-intensive applications is a strong plus.
- Data Skills: Basic data handling skills using spreadsheets, SQL, or reporting tools.
