Job summary

Northern Nevada Health System in Reno, NV seeks a Lead Tech - Endo to support the GI Lab. This full-time, 40-hour per week role assists the RN and physician with invasive diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and requires extensive knowledge of EUS and EBUS, with the ability to operate and troubleshoot interventional ultrasound equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Operating Room Technician certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a GI Lab.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • SGNA Technician Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare GI Lab procedure room and monitor PAR levels for endoscopic instruments.
  • Clean and reprocess reusable instruments and endoscopes per policy and SGNA standards.
  • Participate in performance‑improvement activities and manage supplies/PAR levels.
  • Schedule personnel to meet departmental needs.
  • Set up room with anticipated endoscopes and equipment for EUS/EBUS.
  • Organize endoscope/instruments on back table and anticipate needs during procedures.
  • Adapt procedures for neonatal to geriatric patients.
  • Perform services under supervision with knowledge of EUS/EBUS/ERCP.

Job description

Lead Tech - Endo opportunity is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) that offers comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will assist the RN and physician with invasive diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional endoscopic procedures in the GI Lab. This role requires extensive knowledge of advanced EUS endoscopic GI and EBUS pulmonary procedures, as well as the ability to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot the interventional ultrasound equipment platform. The Lead Tech will ensure the GI Lab procedure room is adequately prepared, monitor PAR levels of instruments and supplies, reprocess reusable instruments and endoscopes per policy and SGNA standards, and participate in performance‑improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the GI Lab procedure room is adequately prepared for procedures and monitor PAR levels of all endoscopic instruments and supplies.
  • Clean and reprocess all reusable instruments and endoscopes per policy and SGNA standards; handle and reprocess EUS/EBUS endoscopes per policy.
  • Participate in department’s performance‑improvement activities, maintain and manage supplies and PAR levels.
  • Manage scheduling of personnel to meet departmental needs.
  • Prepare the room with all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies and equipment; be competent in set‑up and use of ultrasound endoscopes and all accessories for EUS/EBUS procedures.
  • Organize endoscope, instruments and supplies on the back table; anticipate needs during advanced endoscopic procedures.
  • Adapt procedures and supplies to meet the individual needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Perform services requiring technical or manual skills under the direction of the GI Lab RN and physician; demonstrate advanced knowledge of all endoscopic procedures including EUS, EBUS, and ERCP.
