Job description

Summary

We are seeking a lead Toddler teacher for our toddler class (age 18 months - 3 years) and Pre-school/Pre-K class (age 3-5). A qualified candidate will be dependable and have child care experience outside of personal family care for the relevant age groups. We focus on experiences through a project-based learning model. Candidates must be active and compassionate advocates for children's rights in their learning environment. They should be team players with tenacity to find solutions to classroom challenges. The right candidate will be a valuable part of our teacher collaborative.

Classroom ratios are:

  • Toddler Class: 1:6
Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall supervision and daily functions of a group of children.
  • Lead teachers utilize school curriculum standards and develop lesson plans.
  • Assistant teachers support the curriculum and lead teachers.
  • Assess each child's academic and behavioral development needs regularly.
  • Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules according to curriculum.
  • Provide clear and consistent expectations for children's behavior.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain professional appearance per Employee Handbook guidelines.
  • Engage in curriculum planning.
  • Support family communication and interaction.
  • Collect child documentation and provide assessments.
  • Assist in other duties as determined by the Director or designee.
Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • College coursework in early childhood education, child development, or related area, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. for child safety and emergency situations.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Proof of up-to-date Covid-19 vaccination required.
Nice To Haves

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience in a Reggio-Inspired program.
  • Previous teaching or assistant teaching in licensed or license-exempt early childhood programs.
  • Knowledge of social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • 2- or 4-year degree in early childhood education or related field preferred but not required.

Prior experience in RIE or Reggio Emilia Philosophy is highly desired but not necessary.
