Job summary

Plattsburgh YMCA seeks a Lead Teacher for its Early Learning Development Center to plan and implement an age-appropriate, values-based curriculum. The role reports to the Child Care Director and entails supervising staff, maintaining safety, and communicating with families.

Requirements include an associate’s degree in Early Childhood or related field, plus relevant infant/toddler experience or credentials. CPR/First Aid may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood/Child Development or related field with infant/toddler care experience.
• Infant/Toddler CDA or equivalent credential preferred.
• 9 college credits in Early Childhood with plan of study for relevant credential.
• Two years of experience in caring for children, including infants or toddlers.
• Relevant ongoing or completed coursework or credentials recognized in this field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and execute an age-appropriate, values-based curriculum, with materials ready for each class.
• Maintain attendance and information sheets on each child enrolled in the program.
• Plan events to involve parents and families in the program.
• Maintain communication with parents through daily conversations, newsletters, and parent app.
• Responsible for the overall classroom appearance and related equipment.
• Provide guidance to program assistants and volunteers.
• Attend all required meetings and training.
• Maintain required certifications.
• All other duties as assigned.
