Job summary

Advocates is seeking a Head Teacher for The Darnell School in Hudson, MA. You will supervise a classroom of up to six students, conduct comprehensive assessments, and implement IEPs with a focus on individualized learning and behavior support.

The program serves students with autism and related disabilities, offering room for advancement. As part of a 221-day school year, you will lead staff, collaborate with families and specialists, and help develop meaningful education plans that drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Active pursuit of MA state teaching licensure in Moderate or Severe Disabilities.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and experience with autism or developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise up to six students and support staff.
• Conduct and document educational, behavioral, and vocational assessments.
• Write and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress reports.
• Design and modify student programming to meet IEP goals.
• Lead team meetings and mentor classroom staff.
• Collaborate with families, therapists, and outside providers.
• Maintain student data and MCAS-Alt-related portfolios.
• Plan daily schedules and ensure consistency in learning.
