Taylor Transportation Search Group is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer in St. Louis, MO.

This leadership role establishes and drives our system safety program for safety-critical rail and autonomous technology, reporting to the Chief Engineer and shaping the safety case for future operations. You will lead software safety compliance, perform FMEA/FTA/hazard analyses, and coordinate regulatory pathways (FRA/AAR).

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field.
• At least 5 years in a safety-critical, regulated environment.
• Experience performing system-level safety analyses (FMEA/FTA/Hazard Analysis).
• Familiarity with safety-critical software architectures and SDLC processes.

Aufgaben

• Establish and lead the system safety program from early stage to production-grade practice.
• Serve as the technical authority for system safety and software reliability.
• Lead safety review, hazard analysis, and compliance verification of onboard software.
• Drive safety and reliability analyses (FMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis).
• Lead FRA/AAR waiver process and safety case development for autonomous operations.
• Define testing methodologies to qualify battery-electric and autonomous rail tech.
• Influence design from early stages translating safety requirements to hardware/software.
• Coordinate testing plans to validate safety cases and regulatory expectations.
• Support fielded systems from concept through deployment.
• Travel up to 10-15% domestically.
