Job summary

X-energy is seeking experienced Systems Engineers in Gaithersburg, MD to execute rigorous MBSE-driven processes supporting complex nuclear systems across lifecycles. You will verify and validate product requirements, document design decisions and system interfaces, and ensure alignment with project goals.

You will lead small engineering teams, mentor juniors, manage risks, and contribute to cost analyses and optimization within X-energy's quality framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial, systems or related engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Multiple levels of experience (II–VI) in engineering roles as described.
• Master's or PhD may substitute years of experience as indicated.

Responsibilities

• Lead core systems engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance.
• Lead small teams to solve complex problems and deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
• Apply systems thinking to analyze interdependencies and interfaces.
• Develop and maintain MBSE models and document system behavior.
