Job summary

Kapsch is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to own the technical direction across hardware, software, and electrical engineering for tolling and roadside infrastructure programs. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, drive requirements, and shape the technical path from bid through deployment.

Ideal candidates bring a PE license, 10+ years IT/networking experience, and substantial systems engineering expertise, with strong client-facing skills and the ability to present complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
10+ years of IT/networking experience.
5+ years implementing technical solutions in systems engineering.
4+ years across two or more: electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, software, database, networking, or security.
CCNA, CCNP, or Cisco networking certification.
Experience with requirements engineering.
Ability to lead technical conversations with customers and guide cross-functional teams.
Ability to present technically and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

Own the technical solution end-to-end from bid phase to delivery and handoff.
Design and maintain full solution architecture including interfaces, protocols, databases, networking, and applications.
Own cost estimation for Systems Engineering labor and Project Material/BOM.
Serve as primary technical contact for clients and translate needs into buildable solutions.
Build out the physical design layer with wiring diagrams, civil drawings, and cable layouts.
Set technical direction and unblock the team, push back when needed.
