About the Opportunity:
GSG is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Analyst to join the Portfolio Analysis Technology team within the Investment Platform Technology organization. This role sits at the intersection of investment decision-making and technology, partnering closely with portfolio managers, research analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to deliver portfolio analytics capabilities that support how investors analyze portfolios, evaluate risk, and make investment decisions.
The Lead Systems Analyst will play a critical role in shaping the evolution of our client's portfolio analysis platform. This individual will lead analysis for complex initiatives, translating investor workflows and analytical needs into scalable, high-quality technology solutions that support the firm’s global investment platform.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with portfolio managers and research analysts to understand portfolio analytics, risk, performance, and investment decision-making workflows.
- Lead analysis for portfolio analysis initiatives and platform enhancements, translating complex investor needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead end-to-end analysis for complex initiatives spanning multiple systems, including investment data, analytics, and user experience.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to evaluate solution approaches, tradeoffs, and implementation impacts.
- Drive alignment across stakeholders by facilitating discussions between investment professionals and technology teams.
- Support delivery from concept through release, including solution design reviews, testing, and rollout readiness.
- Identify opportunities to enhance investor workflows, improve analytical capabilities, and increase platform usability and performance based on direct investor feedback.
- Drive high quality Agile practices, including well formed epics and user stories, clear acceptance criteria, backlog readiness, and active participation in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Key Focus of the Role:
- Support Portfolio Managers (PMs) and Research Analysts (RAs).
- Develop a strong understanding of investment systems, workflows, and how they interact.
- Perform in-depth analysis of investment processes and related data while working closely with investors and business users.
- The focus is understanding business processes and partnering with investors.
- Partner directly with investors to understand their workflows, processes, and business needs.
- Drive adoption of AI tools and capabilities across the investment organization.
- Serve as an evangelist for investment technology products and solutions.
- Work across multiple systems and platforms to improve user experience and efficiency.
- Provide hands‑on testing, production support, and issue resolution for investors and business users.
- Be willing to provide support during off‑hours when needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role within complex technology environments.
- Experience working directly with the front office is required.
- Strong understanding of the asset management industry and portfolio analytics, including concepts such as portfolio risk, performance attribution, portfolio construction, or factor exposures.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage directly with portfolio managers and research analysts to understand complex investment workflows and analytical needs.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguity, evaluate tradeoffs, and make clear recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience leading analysis efforts across cross‑functional teams and coordinating requirements across multiple systems.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with portfolio managers, research analysts, or investment teams.
- Experience working on investment analytics platforms supporting portfolio analysis, risk, or performance.
- Working familiarity with SQL or data analysis tools.
- Practical experience applying AI techniques (e.g., Copilot/ChatGPT) to translate business needs into requirements— e.g. prompt design, workflow automation, and validating outputs.
