Job summary

Ecowaste Solutions is seeking a Lead Swing Driver for Huntington, TX to operate a variety of collection vehicles safely and provide flexible coverage across routes and shifts.

The role supports training, route guidance, and compliance with DOT regulations while emphasizing safety and customer service. Weekly pay and a robust benefits package are included, along with retirement matching and PTO.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Class A or Class B CDL with required endorsements, including air brakes as applicable.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of commercial driving experience; waste industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate multiple types of collection vehicles (front-load, rear-load, roll-off).
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe commercial vehicle operating practices.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing routes and assignments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a variety of collection vehicles in residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
  • Provide coverage for multiple routes, locations, truck types, and shifts as needed.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for drivers regarding routes, equipment, safety procedures, and company expectations.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new drivers, including demonstrating proper vehicle operation and route procedures.
  • Follow all applicable local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT requirements and company safety policies.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment and promptly report deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate route sheets, driver logs, timecards, inspection records, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported in accordance with safety standards.
  • Complete assigned routes efficiently while maintaining service standards and meeting collection requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, residents, coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Report route issues, service concerns, vehicle problems, accidents, incidents, and safety hazards promptly to the supervisor.
  • Assist with identifying issues that affect productivity or customer service and provide feedback for improvements.

Position Summary

The Lead Swing Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating multiple types of collection vehicles while providing flexible coverage across routes, locations, and shifts as business needs require. This position serves as a knowledgeable resource for other drivers and may assist with training, route support, and identifying opportunities to improve safety and efficiency.

The Lead Swing Driver must be adaptable, dependable, and knowledgeable of company procedures, collection routes, equipment, and DOT regulations. This role requires strong communication, time management, and leadership skills, with a commitment to safety and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a variety of collection vehicles in residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
  • Provide coverage for multiple routes, locations, truck types, and shifts as needed, including filling in for absent or unavailable drivers.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for drivers regarding routes, equipment, safety procedures, and company expectations.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new drivers, including demonstrating proper vehicle operation, route procedures, and safety practices.
  • Follow all applicable local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT requirements and company safety policies.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while representing the company in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform other physical activities associated with operating and servicing collection vehicles.
