Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Head Swim Coach to lead our recreational swim team. You will instruct beginners to advanced swimmers and enforce safety skills in line with YMCA Competitive Swimming guidelines.

Responsibilities include planning progression-based swim programs, coordinating meets, and reporting progress to parents and the Program Director. This part-time role engages youth and emphasizes inclusivity and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching youth in a program setting.
• Ability to demonstrate swim strokes and safety skills.
• Pass background and reference checks.
• Good in-water coaching and communication.

Responsibilities

• Submit meet information with Team Manager Software.
• Attend swimming meetings and follow league rules.
• Coordinate meets with local teams and branches.
• Prepare swim team plans progressing by age and ability.
• Coach swimmers from basic to advanced per YMCA guidelines.
• Monitor progress and report to Program Director and parents.
• Assist in supervising Assistant Coaches.
