Job summary

VTG is seeking a highly qualified SWFTS Lead Engineer to lead development and deployment of next-generation tactical systems for US Navy submarines. The role is onsite in Manassas, VA, with up to two days per week onsite and remaining days remote.

The Lead Engineer will direct multiple projects, integrate systems in a Kubernetes environment, and drive Agile development to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience with the submarine SWFTS architecture
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
• Understanding of SWFTS sub-system interfaces
• Proficient with Linux (RHEL/Centos 7 or 8)
• Articulate with excellent presentation skills
• US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
• Successful completion of background check
• Proficient with modern PaaS tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, KVM, Helm
• Previous work as a system architect
• Familiar with Agile software development methodology, JIRA
• Familiar with MBSE concepts
• Familiar with basic network switch configuration

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for multiple SWFTS projects
• Integrate multiple systems in a Kubernetes environment
• Lead development in an Agile environment to meet time and budget
• Assign tasks, set long- and short-term goals
• Negotiate with vendors and clients to stay on schedule
• Prepare program briefings for senior engineers and managers
• Coordinate prototyping in cross-domain working groups
• Propose and evaluate novel engineering solutions for operational needs
