Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a Surgical Technician Lead to provide safe and direct surgical scrub for a range of procedures in the ASC setting. The role requires CST certification, CPR, and 1–2 years of ASC or hospital experience, with preference for multispecialty experience.

You will collaborate with nursing leadership and the quality committee, assemble supplies, and ensure equipment readiness while maintaining strict infection control and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Surgical Technician Certification (CST) required.
• Current CPR.
• 1-2 years ASC or hospital experience REQUIRED.
• Multispecialty surgical experience strongly preferred. Center is heavy in orthopedics, ENT, pain management, and gastroenterology
• Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of typical OR equipment required

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with physician and facility policies.
• Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments.
• Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, hospital staff, vendors and the public.
• Coordinates and performs activities with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director and the Quality Committee(s).
• Performs the role of surgical scrub by anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed.
• Ensures all supplies, equipment and medications are assembled prior to the start of the procedure.
• Responsible for ensuring all new equipment requests are appropriately analyzed.
• Understands the high standards and cost savings and containment of the ASC.
• Promotes safe environment and acts in emergencies to control hazards.
• Assists the team with safe operating room turnover times.
• Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines and uses PPE; handwashing per policy.
• Adheres to infection control practices and maintains aseptic technique and takes corrective action for breaks in technique
