Job summary

Quaker Houghton is seeking a Formulation Chemist to drive formulation changes, substitute raw materials, optimize costs, and ensure product performance and manufacturability. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and technical service to maintain robustness and accelerate development timelines.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, documentation, and cross-functional teamwork to deliver reliable solutions and scale-up support for production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2–7 years of experience in formulation, product development, or applied chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with formulation changes and optimization, raw-material evaluation and substitution, and application testing.
• Strong understanding of chemical interactions, stability, and compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Modify existing formulations to improve performance or reduce cost.
• Evaluate alternative suppliers and raw materials for compatibility.
• Develop incremental or derivative products based on customer needs.
• Conduct performance testing, stability studies, and application evaluations.
• Maintain formulation records, test reports, and SOPs.
• Assist during pilot runs and production scale-ups.
• Investigate formulation issues and customer complaints.
• Collaborate across procurement, operations and technical service.
• Identify opportunities to streamline formulations and sustainability.
