Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks an experienced SUE Party Chief for the Underground Utilities, Land Surveying, and Mapping team in Asheville, North Carolina. The role involves leading survey crews, planning activities, and performing complex calculations with AutoCAD in field conditions.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least five years in utility designating and locating, with leadership experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in utility designating and locating equipment with leadership experience.
• Ability to lead project assignments and supervise multiple crews.
• Knowledge of vacuum excavation and ground-penetrating radar equipment/procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, engineers, and contractor representatives.
• Assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of field survey crew members.
• Instructs and trains survey crew in survey and mapping methods, equipment use, and field safety procedures.
• Completes daily report cards and field note sketches.
• Performs complex surveying calculations using AutoCAD and related software.
