Job summary

Black & Veatch is hiring a Staff Substation Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and analysis of substation scopes, coordinating with engineering teams to ensure alignment with budget and schedule.

Ideal candidates bring PE licensure, 5+ years in related work, and experience guiding project teams through design and construction phases within a flexible, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and professional registration.
• Minimum 5 years related work experience in structural engineering for substations or similar.
• Experience leading design teams and coordinating with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes.
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work and perform calculations.
• Develop equipment/material recommendations respecting budget and schedule.
• Supervise engineers and technicians and lead production teams.
• Perform construction-phase duties including site visits and RFI responses.
• Prepare project design fee estimates and track budget/schedule progress.
• Coordinate work with other discipline engineers and ensure compliance with codes.
