Job summary
WSP is seeking a Sr. Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our East Energy team. Location options include Buffalo, NY; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Portland, ME; Augusta, ME, with client offices in Binghamton and Horseheads, NY.
You will lead protection design for capital projects and coordinate relay settings, SCADA, and automation across diverse projects. The role calls for a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, EIT certification, and IEC 61850/GOOSE
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of post-education experience in electrical engineering, power systems protection and control.
- EIT Certification.
- IEC 61850/GOOSE experience required.
Responsibilities
- Lead overall protection design for capital projects and define relay functionality per client standards.
- Review contractor relay settings, logic diagrams, and operational descriptions.
- Coordinate protection and SCADA integration across multiple projects.
- Provide design support during implementation, testing and commissioning.
- Develop substation automation and integration designs including HMI, IED data maps, and protection settings.
