Job summary

Leidos in Houston is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to deliver high-impact substation design projects for grids from 12 kV to 500 kV, applying expertise in grounding, AC/DC circuits, and essential drawings.

You will lead QA/QC reviews, create bills of materials, perform site visits, and mentor a team of engineers and CAD technicians while collaborating with clients to exceed standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) required.
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to understand needs and deliver solutions that exceed standards.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews on substation physical design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Read, design, and review essential substation drawings (one-lines, three-lines, plan-and-section, grounding layouts).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation physical components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
