Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Lead P&C Field Engineer to lead testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems across high-voltage substations. You will tackle complex relay schemes, pilot channel equipment, and SCADA integration to support reliable power delivery nationwide.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in substation commissioning and relay testing, proven project leadership, and strong SCADA knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 8+ years in substation commissioning, relay testing, and P&C troubleshooting.
• Experience leading projects and coordinating relay settings.
• Strong understanding of substation design, SCADA, and automation testing.
• Proficiency with test equipment and three-phase protection schemes.
• MS Word, Excel, and Outlook for reporting.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Test and maintain protective relays and verify trip/alarm/metering functions.
• Commission new substations and troubleshoot P&C systems.
• Read wiring diagrams and apply testing procedures to substation equipment.
• Plan and execute tests independently while meeting timelines.
• Mentor field personnel and support teams as needed.
• Communicate with customers, field teams, and operations.
• Work in varied indoor/outdoor environments under safety protocols.
• Adhere to PPE and safety rules for noisy electrical settings.
