Job summary

Ampirical is seeking a Physical Substation Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team in Covington, LA. You will develop preliminary electrical designs for substation facilities, leading design efforts and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring constructability and compliance with RFQ scope.

Requirements include a ABET-accredited EE degree, experience with ETAP/IEEE standards, CAD tooling proficiency, and EIT/FE credentials. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required.
• Experience with ETAP, WinIGS and IEEE 88/998 preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor or Bentley software is a plus.
• EIT or FE certifications are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver designs of high voltage substation components meeting codes.
• Lead engineers and review work for peers/sub-contractors.
• Design general arrangement, equipment, grounding and BOMs for substations.
• Prepare preliminary construction drawings for bids and review proposals.
• Manage project proposals, schedules, and bid preparation.
• Assist on-site during construction and travel to client sites.
