Job summary

Ampirical in Covington, LA is seeking a Physical Substation Engineer to help shape the electric power grid. You will design and develop high‑voltage substation packages, convert RFQ requirements into constructible designs, and serve as Engineer of Record on capital projects.

You will create layouts, grounding grids, conduits, BOMs; perform power‑system calculations using ETAP and WinIGS; review designs; mentor engineers; and travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with ABET accreditation.
• FE certification required or in progress.
• Hands‑on ETAP/WinIGS experience and IEEE 80/998 familiarity.
• Knowledge of physical substation design, grounding grids, and HV layouts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑voltage substation designs meeting IEEE and client standards.
• Create layouts, grounding grids, and conduit plans for substations.
• Perform electrical calculations using ETAP/WinIGS tools.
• Prepare drawings, technical specs, proposals, and BOMs.
• Lead projects as Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight.
• Support construction and travel to client sites as needed.
