Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking a dedicated Physical Substation Engineer in Covington, LA to design high‑voltage substation systems and layouts that meet IEEE standards. You will lead engineering effort, perform calculations with ETAP/IEEE tools, and prepare complete drawing packages and specifications for construction.

The role requires a BSEE, FE certification, and hands-on experience with ETAP/WinIGS and IEEE 80/998 codes. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from ABET-accredited college or university.
• FE certification (Fundamentals of Engineering).
• Hands-on experience with ETAP, WinIGS, and relevant IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate designs of high-voltage substation systems and components.
• Create substation layouts including arrangements, elevations, conduits, and grounding grids.
• Perform electrical calculations using power-system tools like ETAP and IEEE 80/998.
• Prepare drawing packages, specs, proposals, bids, and material estimates.
• QC and peer-review electrical engineering work by internal/subcontractors.
• Serve as Lead Engineer and Engineer of Record on designated projects.
• Support construction phase execution and on-site inquiries.
• Travel to client sites and field installations as needed.
