Parkson Corp. in Springfield, Oregon, is seeking a Senior Substation Design Engineer to lead the design of customer-owned substations for industrial and IPP clients.

This full-time, professional role emphasizes leading concept to construction drawings, collaboration with multiple disciplines, and delivering robust protection, control and grounding designs. The ideal candidate has a PE license, 10+ years in substation design, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S.E.E. with emphasis in electrical power systems from an accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical).
• At least ten years of senior electrical engineering experience, mainly in substation design.
• Experience with substation grounding, equipment layout and clearance coordination.
• Knowledge of high-voltage equipment and protection/SCADA systems.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, and utility design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design projects from concept to issued-for-construction drawings.
• Develop physical designs, layout, bus configurations and equipment arrangements.
• Perform grounding, step/touch potential analyses and lightning protection.
• Specify HV equipment: transformers, GSUs, circuit breakers, switchgear.
• Create protection and control packages: relays, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with civil/structural, SCADA and utility requirements.
• Support procurement, RFP responses and project management activities.
