Job summary

National Grid in New York seeks a Lead Construction Planner to manage substation schedules and resource plans. You will partner with project teams to optimize schedules, ensure on-time delivery, and monitor performance metrics across Albany or Syracuse sites.

The role requires hands-on planning, data-driven decision making, and regular in-office collaboration with field teams. Travel across NYS is expected; on-site presence is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree or relevant job experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in construction analysis/management or related field, preferably utility construction.
• Demonstrated leadership and accountability.
• Strong knowledge of project scheduling methodologies and tools.
• Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; cross-functional collaboration.
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Preferred proficiency in SAP, Concur, Ariba for admin support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for substation construction.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams for accurate scheduling.
• Travel statewide as required, may include overnight stays for storm duty.
• Analyze requirements and craft construction methodologies for efficiency and safety.
• Assist in drafting scopes for bid events to enable accurate contractor bidding.
• Support bid evaluations with scheduling and resource insights.
• Attend scheduling meetings with managers in person.
• Regularly review schedules and inform stakeholders of progress, risks, opportunities.
• Utilize MS Project, Primavera, Procore to create/manage schedules and reports.
• Willingness to travel statewide to develop SOWs and visit sites for lessons learned.
