Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems in Massachusetts seeks a Subassemblies Specialist to deliver precision, ultra high vacuum subassemblies for SPARC. You will be the last hands and eyes on critical parts, ensuring build quality and streamlining workflows to meet project milestones.

After subassemblies are built, you may install them into the Tokamak and transition to assembling the machine. The role requires hands-on skills with RF antennas, plasma components, and related tooling, collaborating with

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in a highly technical assembly role.
• 2 years leading a team of four or more.
• Ability to operate forklift.
• Experience designing tooling and fixtures.
• Experience completing large-scale projects end-to-end.
• Knowledge of clean room practices and welding.

Responsibilities

• Build complex and simple subassemblies while maintaining cleanliness specs.
• Oversee contract technicians and ensure quality parts.
• Perform testing including helium leak checks and checkout equipment.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to refine work instructions.
• Assist in final design of components that interact with tooling.
• Assist with alignment and installation of optical systems.
• Maintain clean work area and clean room compliance.
• Support other CFS teams with related skilled work.
• Develop strategies to overcome non-conformances in the field.
