Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Technician II - Structured Cabling to lead a small crew of installers, coordinate daily workload, and ensure safety and quality standards on projects. The role requires hands-on installation of outlets, racks, grounding, terminations, and testing with attention to documentation and regulatory compliance.

The position emphasizes leadership, blueprint interpretation, color-code knowledge, and the ability to travel within the branch/territory as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and ability to supervise others.
• Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
• Must know the universal communications color codes.
• Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (CAT 3 & CAT 5 jack terminations).
• Build closets (mount backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware).
• Perform testing: continuity test, troubleshoot opens/shorts, and verify cables.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Coordinate crew performance and provide training to complete projects on time.
• Complete IES Communications paperwork accurately (timesheets, work orders, etc.).
• Adhere to safety and quality standards and regulations.
