Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services, seeking a Communications Technician II to lead a technical team on cable installation and related tasks in field projects. You will coordinate small installer groups, ensure safety and quality standards, and handle paperwork accuracy and timely submissions.

Role requires ability to read blueprints, terminate cable blocks and panels, and perform testing. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of telecommunications or related technical field experience and ability to supervise others.
• Must be proficient with listed tools.
• Must be able to interpret blueprints and project documents.
• Must know universal communications color codes.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls with proper terminations (CAT3 & CAT5).
• Build closets: mount/backboards, racks, patch panels, fiber, grounding as required; complete IDC terminations.
• Perform continuity testing and troubleshoot opens, shorts, and crossed pairings; use tone set.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Coordinate crew performance and provide training; manage timelines to complete projects.
• Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
