CS Erickson is seeking a Lead Cabling Technician to own field installs and lead crews across multiple project sites, with a travel-intensive schedule. This role suits someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering high-quality structured cabling work.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in structured cabling or related field.
  • Experience leading crews or serving as senior/lead technician.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optics and copper cabling systems.
  • Familiar with ANSI/TIA and ISO industry standards.
  • Hands-on with fusion splicers, testers, and termination kits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Cabling Technician who can take ownership in the field, lead crews, and deliver high‑quality installations across multiple project sites.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys travel, and takes pride in leading work that matters.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of cabling technicians in the field
  • Plan and execute structured cabling installations (fiber, copper, and coax)
  • Perform terminations, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Conduct site walks and assess project requirements
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field leadership
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards, codes, and quality expectations
  • Maintain accurate documentation (as‑builts, test results, progress updates)
  • Manage tools, materials, and inventory on‑site
Travel Expectations
  • This is a travel‑intensive role supporting projects across multiple locations.
  • We try to get everyone home for the weekend but sometimes projects may require extended stays (weeks)
  • Per diem and travel support provided in accordance with company policy

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in structured cabling or similar field
  • Experience leading crews or acting as a senior/lead technician
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Fiber optics (splicing, OTDR testing)
  • Copper cabling systems
  • Industry standards (ANSI/TIA, ISO, etc.)
  • Hands‑on experience with tools like fusion splicers, testers, and termination kits
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred
  • BICSI Technician certification (or similar) highly desired
  • Experience in industrial or large commercial environments
Physical Requirements
  • Work on ladders and uneven surfaces
  • Lift up to 35 lbs regularly
  • Stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the day
