Job summary

Sure Steel, Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Project Manager II to oversee planning, coordination, and execution of multiple structural steel fabrication and erection projects. You will manage budgets, schedules, and quality across a portfolio of concurrent projects.

You will lead project plans with engineering, detailing, and fabrication shop teams; coordinate with detailers, erection subcontractors, vendors; monitor progress and ensure safety and compliance; mentor junior PMs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management with structural steel background.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and erection methods, and able to read structural/shop drawings.
• Proven leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver on time and on budget.
• Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of project plans, schedules, and budgets with project teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with steel detailers, erection subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers for timely procurement and delivery.
• Balance fabrication shop capacity, erection crews, cranes, and resources across projects.
• Review specifications, drawings, and contracts to ensure alignment with requirements.
• Manage shop fabrication and field erection activities, crews, and equipment usage.
• Monitor progress against schedules and budgets; implement corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct regular shop/site visits to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.
