Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking a Structural Steel Project Manager in the Milwaukee area to lead complex steel and precast projects from planning through field installation. You will coordinate engineering, detailing, fabrication, transportation, and erection to meet schedules, budgets, safety, and quality requirements.

Applicants must have 5+ years in structural steel project management and direct experience with steel erection projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel construction.
• Direct experience managing commercial or industrial structural steel erection projects.
• Experience with precast concrete, miscellaneous metals, or ornamental iron is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, connection detailing, erection sequencing, procurement, transportation, crane operations, and jobsite logistics.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of structural steel and precast projects from kickoff through installation, turnover, and closeout.
• Establish schedules, budgets, purchasing plans, fabrication milestones, staffing needs, and equipment requirements.
• Direct coordination among detailers, fabricators, superintendents, erectors, crane operators, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
• Review drawings, shop drawings, erection plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify scope and resolve discrepancies.
• Align engineering approvals, detailing, shop production, material releases, deliveries, and field erection with project deadlines.
• Track job costs, labor performance, billing, forecasts, change orders, and project margins.
• Administer RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, payment applications, change documentation, and project records.
• Plan erection activities with field supervision, crane operators, general contractors, and other trades.
