Job summary

Thompson & Litton seeks an experienced Structural Project Engineer to lead the structural narrative of complex building projects. You will direct design, supervise engineers, conduct site investigations, and collaborate with architects to ensure on-budget, integrated delivery.

Responsibilities include selecting systems, reviewing drawings, and leveraging RISA/Enercalc to optimize solutions while shaping construction specifications and contract administration.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of dedicated experience as a Structural Project Engineer in commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia, with ability to obtain licensure in other states soon.
• Proficient design experience with Steel, Concrete, Wood, Masonry, PEMB, and Light Gauge Steel.
• Experience estimating engineering effort and managing project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Determine system choices: direct structural design, calculations, and system selection for various building types.
• Lead the Project Design Group: oversee entry-level engineers and technicians to ensure high-quality drawings.
• Be a field expert: perform site visits and forensic investigations for renovations and additions.
• Collaborate across trades with architects and other disciplines for integrated delivery.
• Utilize RISA and Enercalc to economize designs and improve efficiency.
• Manage the lifecycle: prepare CSI-based construction specifications and handle RFIs/submittals.
