Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Structural Engineering Group Leader to grow the local practice, lead a high‑performing team, and shape the office’s future. This visible leadership role offers opportunities to mentor engineers, build client relationships, and expand KPFF’s presence in the Birmingham area while leveraging national resources.

You will supervise design across materials and systems, guide project delivery from planning through construction, and mentor successors,

Qualifications

• PE license is required; SE license preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Masters preferred) or Architectural Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years leading teams of three or more engineers.
• Experience with client development and business growth is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead with vision to grow the Birmingham structural group.
• Mentor engineers and BIM modelers.
• Strengthen client relationships and pursue new opportunities.
• Provide technical and project leadership from planning through construction.
• Help shape office culture and align with national resources.
