City and County of San Francisco, through the Bureau of Engineering, seeks a Structural Engineer (5218) to lead professional and technical engineering work in field and office settings. The incumbent will supervise staff, prepare plans and specifications, and act as the engineer-of-record for projects.

Key qualifications include a civil engineering degree, a California SE license, and at least six years of progressive engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree or graduate degree with major coursework in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Six (6) years of professional engineering experience, including two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a Structural Engineer (SE) license issued from the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure code compliance for new construction and alteration of existing structures using concrete, steel, masonry, light gauge steel, and wood.
  • Providing construction administration, including review of submittals and information requests, development of supplemental information, and structural observation.
  • Preparing studies and reports for seismic evaluation of existing buildings and design criteria documents.
  • Directing and supervising professional and technical staff, including consultants, in engineering studies, reports, designs, calculations, and contract documents.
