Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to guide a team on heavy industrial projects in Alabama and Florida. You will oversee design, reviews, and stamping of structural drawings, ensuring quality and code compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, an active P.E. license, and have extensive leadership experience in steel and concrete structures. Relocation assistance is available with potential advancement to Vice President of Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• Experience leading structural engineering teams on heavy industrial projects.
• Strong design experience with steel and reinforced concrete.
• Experience designing foundations and supports for heavy rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering department and mentor engineers/designers.
• Develop project work plans and oversee deliverables.
• Perform field inspections to verify plant conditions.
• Design steel and concrete structures for heavy industrial equipment.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and process disciplines.
• Stamp drawings and review for quality and code compliance.
• Manage workloads and conduct performance reviews.
• Lead client communications and project scope development.
• Develop engineering estimates and procurement documentation.
• Oversee project safety, scheduling, and startup support.
• Oversee project closeout and documentation.
