Job summary

United Launch Alliance seeks an experienced Operations Engineering Lead to head a structures-focused analysis and design team in Decatur, AL. You will guide the team on strategic objectives, performance management, and multi-discipline collaboration.

Key responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, delivering technical resolutions, and developing career growth plans for engineers while driving cost proposals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
• At least 8 years of applicable experience
• Knowledge of operations engineering support functions including product certification, non-conformance and material review board activities, and related processes
• Prior experience leading an engineering team, project management, or team lead experience
• Excellent teamwork, programmatic, and communication skills
• Ability to tackle and fix complicated cross-organization challenges and conflicts
• Experience preparing and presenting at engineering reviews (technical decision making reviews, anomaly review boards, etc)
• Experience briefing senior leaders and customers
• Experience developing technical and cost proposals
• Demonstrated ability to share experience, mentor junior engineers, and lead by example
• Demonstrated ability to develop next generation of engineering technical experts in the Decatur factory
• Demonstrated ability to deal with personnel issus to ensure performance and team cohesiveness

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations engineering team to support strategic objectives of the enterprise
• Manage team assignments, priorities, performance reviews, merit planning, and promotions
• Develop individuals on the team for career growth and cross-skill depth
• Drive training and resources to ensure team success
• Coordinate inputs and deliverables from upstream/downstream customers
• Support the team with technical resolutions
• Support supplier requirements and engineering design activities in the factory
• Coordinate across strength and design leaders for resource sharing
• Recognize and reward teammates
• Generate estimates for continuous and strategic improvement projects
• Develop Estimates at Cost (EAC) and CAM duties for strength and design focal points
• Provide regular status to ULA senior leadership
• Actively manage risk through proactive mitigation
