Job summary

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center seeks a dynamic Medical Director of Stroke Neurology to lead clinical and administrative operations of the Primary Stroke Center within the Department of Medicine.

The role reports to the Division Director and Chair of Medicine, guiding stroke services across our RWJBarnabas Health system, advancing accreditation, quality, EMS outreach, and expansion to additional campuses.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Neurologist with fellowship training in Stroke or Vascular Neurology.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care for stroke patients across ED and inpatient units.
• Lead quality improvement efforts to enhance stroke care outcomes and maintain accreditation.
• Oversee BAT call schedule with balanced coverage and collaboration.
• Monitor protocol adherence, optimize response times, and drive cerebrovascular best practices.
• Support service expansion across campuses with Advanced Practice Provider resources.
• Engage in EMS outreach and community education initiatives.
• Participate in ongoing professional development through conferences.
• Work toward expanding patient base by establishing mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion.
• Participate in Primary Stroke Center accreditation surveys and thrombectomy-capable center status.
• Assist division growth through expansion to RWJUH-Rahway and Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
