University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) seeks a Lead for Cylinder Management to oversee daily operations, coordinate staff, and ensure accurate receiving, loading, and delivery of compressed gas cylinders and regulators.
The role includes customer service, order processing, inventory control, and invoice validation. Strong leadership, math, and written/verbal communication skills are essential; a CA Commercial Class A license is required.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Stores Supervisor and general direction of the Associate Director and Director of Mail, Document, and Distribution Services, responsible for daily operations and coordination of staff at Cylinder Management (located at 650 Charles E. Young Drive A-Level). Annual cost of goods approximately $450,000 annually. Lead and train a team of Principle Auto Equipment Operators to receive (verify quantity), load (verify type) and deliver (verify signature capture) compressed gas cylinders, gas regulators, and research alcohol (200 proof ethanol). In this highly regulated commodity, hazardous material handling is essential and the position ensures daily operations follow the department procedure manual. In addition, the position performs customer service duties including order taking, pick-ticket processing, online ordering assistance, answering customer inquiries, product ordering, inventory control, customer billing, and invoice payment validation. Incumbent also functions as a backup driver to drive, deliver, and pickup duties on an as‑needed basis. Specialty knowledge of compressed gas cylinder industry is preferred including use of industry specific software especially in University setting. Hazardous Material Management compliance, OSHA compliance, UCLA Fire Compliance, and EH&S Safety Program Compliance is required. In the absence of the Supervisor, manage the Cylinder Management area and staff.
