Job summary

The Salvation Army in Radford, VA is seeking a Store Lead to supervise clerks and volunteers at the PMC New River Valley Family Store. You will oversee cash register operations, assist shoppers and donors, and help maintain clean, organized displays.

Schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with pay $13.75 to $14.00 per hour. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of progressive retail experience.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Schedule/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm

Pay: $13.75-$14.00

This position is responsible for: Serves as lead worker to employees working in the Thrift Store; assisting store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; trains employees in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining a cash register; monitors employees work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support Store Clerks and volunteers.
• Operate and oversee cash register transactions and cash handling procedures.
• Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandise displays.
• Provide customer service for shoppers and donation donors.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
• Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. and one year progressively responsible experience working in a retail store.
• Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
