Job summary

The Salvation Army A Georgia Corp in Stuart, FL is seeking a Part Time Store Clerk to assist customers, manage donations, process sales at the register, and maintain clean display areas.

Schedule/Hours: Part time - 29 hours per week (some Saturdays required).

This position is for the Fort Pierce Thrift Store.

Responsibilities

• The Store Clerk function assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers’ questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.


• The Sorting Room function entails receiving, sorting, pricing, and preparing donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register.


• Collects monies, counts change, and prepares receipts; prepares and packages purchased items; prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register printouts.


• Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.


• Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage or displaying in store.


• Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables, and work areas.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy materials, supplies and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting.

Work is performed in a stock room, warehouse, or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather. There are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors, and the like.

What we are looking for in you

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred, And

At least one (1) year experience cashiering

or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
