Job summary

Dollar General is hiring for a Cashier/Stocker role that may lead when the Store Manager is absent. You will unload trucks, stock shelves, assist customers, and maintain store displays across a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include cashier duties, door-to-floor merchandising, and ensuring loss prevention and safety protocols. This onsite position requires strong math, cash handling, and customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock and rotate merchandise on shelves.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Order zones and drop shipments per guidance.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise.
• Bail cardboard, take out trash, and clean floors.
• Greet customers entering the store.
• Maintain register areas and implement plan-o-grams.
• Operate cash register and scanner to total purchases.
• Collect payment and make change.
• Clean front end and help with sidewalk displays.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow SOPs and handbook.
• Open and/or close the store under Area Manager direction.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; count register; make deposits.
• Ensure cashier accountability and cash-control practices.
• Monitor cash levels and perform drawer pulls as directed.
• Monitor cameras for unusual activities.
• Provide cashiers with change as needed.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
