Job summary

The Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, NV is seeking an Assistant Steward Supervisor to lead and inspect the duties of kitchen stewards during assigned shifts. You will communicate issues to the Steward Supervisor and ensure clean, organized work areas.

Responsibilities include directing stewards, coordinating banquet setups, maintaining supplies, operating dish and cleaning equipment, and enforcing safety and sanitation policies while upholding Nugget standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years steward/janitorial or similar experience, with 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead stewards in maintaining and coordinating the cleanliness of kitchens.
• Assemble banquet equipment and deliver to proper area in a timely fashion.
• Assign, in detail, specific duties to all employees under supervision and inspect for cleanliness.
• Maintain inventory of stewarding supplies and keep equipment organized.
• Operate dish machines, glass machines, floor scrubbers and related equipment.
• Clean floors, mats, drains; use cleaning tools and chemicals.
• Move dirty dishes to dish room and restock lines with clean dishes.
• Communicate with Nugget team and guests; follow Nugget policies and safety rules.
• Recognize team members for going above and beyond; maintain professional image.
• Report unsafe conditions to Security, Management, and Safety Manager.
• Maintain predictable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Assist the Steward Supervisor in leading and inspecting the duties and performance of kitchen stewards during assigned shift. Communicate any issues or concerns to the Steward Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for leading stewards in maintaining and coordinating the cleanliness of kitchens within the Nugget Casino Resort.
• Assemble banquet equipment (according to listed needs) and deliver to proper area in a timely fashion.
• Assign, in detail, specific duties to all employees under immediate supervision. Lead all work in progress and inspect for cleanliness/sanitation upon completion. Check all stations before, during, and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform duties assigned to the stewarding department. Keep all equipment and supplies well organized.
• Operate, and maintain dish machines, glass machines, floor scrubbers and burnishing machines.
• Clean floors, mats, and drains for sanitary reasons using mops, brooms, scrapers, scrubbers, and chemicals.
• Remove dirty dishes from cook’s line (or disassembly areas) and take to dish room for cleaning and re-stock cooks line with clean dishes.
• Establish and maintain effective channels of communication with all levels of the Nugget team and guests.
• Using the Nugget’s system of recognition, recognize team members who are going “above and beyond” as appropriate
• Knowledgeable of and consistently follow Nugget policies and procedures as well as appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.
• Perform work in a safe manner and always maintain a safe environment for fellow team members and guests alike.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, team member or guest incidents to Security, Management, and the Safety Manager.
• Maintain a positive and professional image for the Nugget when performing duties or representing the Nugget and encourages others to do the same.
• Regular predictable attendance is required.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION LEVEL:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

LANGUAGE:

Effectively communicate with others both verbally and in written form using the English language.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years steward/janitorial or similar experience, with 1 year in a supervisory role.

PHSYICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time

Ability to lift, and move product up to 50 lbs.

Work environment may include smoke and variable temperature, lighting, and noise levels.

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors during special events.
