Job summary

RSU 40 is seeking a dedicated LEAD Program Teacher to support students with significant needs through skills-based instruction. The role emphasizes communication, daily living, and independence, with data-driven IEP development and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The LEAD Program focuses on meaningful, inclusive learning experiences and preparing students for supported living and community engagement, in a dedicated classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Maine Special Education Teacher Certification (or eligibility).
• Experience working with students with significant disabilities and complex needs.
• Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals.
• Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with MUSER and IDEA.
• Collaborate with related service providers to ensure cohesive programming.
• Create structured, predictable classrooms using evidence-based practices.
• Support student inclusion in general education settings and community activities.
• Communicate regularly with families and participate in district initiatives.
